Students from the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (FESS) and the western branch of the Academy developed an interactive map of municipal entities for the leadership of the Kaliningrad region.

A team of students from the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (FESS, RANEPA) and the Western branch of the Presidential Academy developed an interactive map of the municipal entities of the Kaliningrad region, allowing for convenient display of the region's key macroeconomic statistical indicators.

The students worked on the product in Python using the Folium framework for four months. Eventually, they managed to create a map of the Kaliningrad region, divided by districts, allowing the analysis of the dynamics of macroeconomic indicators, comparison between municipalities, drawing conclusions, and making managerial decisions. The interactive map displays data such as employment and wages, investments in fixed capital, population and education data, fundamental municipal funds, housing construction, etc. The project was prepared at the request of the Kaliningrad branch of the Federal State Statistics Service.
The interactive map is currently in the integration stage on the regional website of the Federal State Statistics Service. As a result of the project, the Academy students received personal commendations and were invited for internships by the customer.

The students themselves were from non-engineering specialties and were predominantly newcomers to Python development, but they figured out the new frameworks and coped with the task as a team," noted the head of the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship of the FESS Academy, Evgeny Itsakov, who supervised the students' work.
