Foreign languages for running international business

Answers to Questions

What are the projects about?

Projects are different and are determined by the needs of companies. Five main directions can be highlighted: 1) marketing promotion, building corporate communications, PR; 2) business process analysis using Process Mining methods; 3) data analysis using Big Data tools and development of predictive models; 4) HR management and strategic management; 5) development of mobile applications and chatbots.

Is working on projects interesting for the students?

Absolutely. Young people are generally interested in experimenting — they are willing to do it even without knowing the theory. The opportunity to create something new is more important to them than the fear of making a mistake. They may not know «how to do it», which is not bad because they can do it «differently».

Through projects, students learn faster than in any other format. A project team is not made up of five wizards, but it consists of five people with different skills (advantages), and each of them will be in demand. In a group, a young person shows their best qualities, while learning from others and gradually improving their other skills.

How many projects are in the roadmap of a FESS student?

At least two (mandatory according to the curriculum), but you can «handle» even 6-7. It depends on you. In September, the Project Office shows the portfolio of projects that need to be done by mid-December, and in January — those that are done in the second semester. Everyone is free to write a motivation letter indicating the desired project; groups of 4-5 people are formed, and work begins. Some projects are so attractive (as are the companies that give them) that students can take on two projects at once. It's difficult, but after that, students are already at a different professional level. And if you «rotate» yourself in 5-6 projects, and in different roles, then you already know about business not only by hearsay: you have studied it, you have studied companies, you have looked for solutions that the company was also looking for, and you are no longer just a student, but in fact a specialist.

Which companies do you do projects for?

Currently, the projects are distributed as follows: 66% of the projects were done for large international companies (BMW, Pfizer, Avon, De'Longhi, Bosch, Xiaomi), 18% — for Russian companies engaged in large-scale business (Sber, Russian Railways, VEB, Segezha Group), 13% — for small businesses, and 10% — for government institutions and development institutes (Minstroy, Rostourism, Government of Moscow).
